Every spring, as the Bengali calendar turns and the auspicious month of Boishakh arrives, there is a particular energy in the air. A collective sense of renewal, celebration, and deep community belonging. Baishakhi Amej is Sahayogi Seva annual tribute to this beautiful spirit, bringing together the Bengali community in London to welcome the New Year with music, cultural performance, and genuine warmth.
A Night to Remember: Baishakhi Amej 2024
The 2024 edition was a genuinely landmark occasion. Held on 15th April 2024 at Park View Venue in East Ham, London, the evening was graced by the legendary Pt. Chiranjeeb Chakraborty as Special Guest. Urmee Mazher served as the compere, while Sanjoy Dey as concept director transformed the stage into a vibrant canvas of colour, music, and shared emotion. The audience, spanning multiple generations, was taken through the full range of Bengali musical expression from traditional folk songs to classical compositions and contemporary arrangements.
Community Partnerships
We are profoundly grateful to CLLR Rohima Rahman, Chair of the Newham Council, for her generous support. Our partners NEOM, Robi-Bharoti, Guru Soundz UK, The King Hotel, Memsaheb, SonaliPay, and Indra Travel all share our commitment to celebrating community and culture.
The Spirit of Baishakhi
Baishakhi is not simply a date on the calendar. It is a philosophy of fresh beginnings, of gratitude for what has been, and of joy shared generously with others. At Sahayogi Seva, Baishakhi Amej is our way of saying: let the New Year begin with music. Shuvo Noboborsho. Happy Bengali New Year.
